About Holmans
Established in 1920, Holman's is Whitby's oldest bookshop. We are a local, family run business and pride ourselves on our friendly, helpful service.
Holman's is situated on Skinner Street, on Whitby's West Cliff. We provide a wide range of products and services including newspapers, stationery, greetings cards, jigsaws, toys, gifts and books to both local and visiting customers. A Grade II listed building built in 1768, Holman's has been serving Whitby for over 100 years and still retains it's Olde World charm.
Our Shop
Spread over three floors, Holman's is often described as a TARDIS - bigger on the inside than the outside.
- Level 1: This is our newsagency, stationery, art supplies and jigsaw level. We stock a huge range of daily national papers and magazines, as well as stationery products including journals, pens, paper, diaries and account books. We believe we are the largest brick and mortar stockist of jigsaws in the North East, carrying more than 300 designs in store.
- Level 2: Downstairs we have our award winning Greetings Card Department.
- Level 3: Upstairs we provide a bookshop specialising in local interest books and maps. We offer a book ordering service and National Book Tokens. There is also a wide range of traditional toys and children's crafts.

Books
As Whitby's oldest bookshop, we specialise in local interest and history books as well as novels written by local authors. You need never get lost as we have a comprehensive range of maps and walking guides. We also retail many other book related products. A book token makes an excellent gift and we sell and accept National Book Tokens.
